Stemersion Day 2

Daily Activities

Before our trip to Cox Arboretum, we made a Haigu out of pictures of nature. A Haigu is a poem made of 3 lines with a picture. The first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the last line has five syllables again. Here is mine. We also talked about the scavenger hunt that we would be completing during the field trip.

At 9:15 we went outside to wait for the bus to take us to Cox Arboretum. Unfortunately there was a mix-up and the bus ended up coming an hour late. When we finally got to Cox Arboretum, it was raining a lot.

Blaine was my partner for the scavenger hunt, and we decided to wait inside a gazebo for a while until the rain died down. After about ten minutes, we went up to the tower even though it was still raining, because we had already lost an hour due to the late bus. For the next couple of hours, we explored all over. I wouldn't typically go outside in that weather, but I had a lot of fun walking around in the rain.

Even though it was kind of cold, I actually had a really nice time and I enjoyed being able to visit everything, especially the Woodland Wildflower Area. There was also an edible garden, which made me slightly uncomfortable at first. There were no labels and I wasn't totally sure what I was eating, but eventually I tried a few things, including mint and lettuce.

Here is a flower from the Woodland Wildflower Area.

Overall, I had a great day and I'm really looking forward to the other trips we're going to take.
