Stemersion Day 9

Daily Activities

Today was finally our kayaking trip! Before we left, we made recipe poems using Emily Dickinson's "To Make A Prairie" poem. Here is mine:

To make a stream it takes three rocks and a little water,

Rocks and some water.

And direction.

Direction alone will do,

If rocks are few.

We got to Bellbrook Canoe and rode over to the Narrows, which is where we began. A few minutes in, some of us stopped by a rope swing. The ground at the bottom of the river was covered by really thick mud, and my feet kept getting stuck. My shoe also ended up coming off and I freaked out a little bit. After that, though, almost everything was calm and relaxing. At one point we were all spread out and I could hear birds and the water moving along.

I was pretty worried that it would rain while we were there, but fortunately it stayed warm and sunny the whole time. It was the first time I'd been in a kayak for a long period of time and I had a lot of fun.
